Good art is a joy for life

Alethea Lowles is a trained fine artist with a passion for abstract. She studied at Central St Martins and at Goldsmiths College and has been painting and lecturing since 1984. Working from her Kent studio, she visits clients across London and the South East.
Creating art that questions our usual interpretation of the world, Alethea produces a deliberate ambiguity of space and perspective in her work. Often creating a series of works, she ensures each piece has its own visual and intellectual integrity, while retaining a clear relationship to the others in the series.
Alethea enjoys using high contrasts of colour and a wide range of textures in her paintings and mono-prints. She uses a range of media including oils, acrylic and ink, with the majority of her works on stretched canvas.
With a belief that good visual art truly enriches our lives, she says: I want to demystify contemporary art and bring the richness and joy of original painting into our everyday surroundings.
